Detailed description

Ciclopirox olamine is only for topical application to the scalp and adjacent areas.

The hair should be wetted and sufficient ciclopirox-olamine applied to produce an abundant lather. The scalp and adjacent areas should be vigorously massaged with the fingertips. The hair should then be thoroughly rinsed and the procedure repeated. The shampoo should remain in contact with the scalp for a total contact time of 3-5 minutes over the two applications.
Ciclopirox olamine should be used two to three times weekly or as often as necessary for the treatment of scalp disorders. A mild shampoo can be used in between applications of ciclopirox-olamine.

The recommended treatment period is 4 weeks.

Ciclopirox is a hydroxypyridone antifungal agent which is active in vitro inhibiting the growth of various fungal species including the yeast Malassezia furfur (formerly known as Pityrosporum ovale or Pityrosporum orbiculare).
