Dosage regimens

Oral, 12.5 milligrams carvedilol, 2 times daily to meals, over the duration of 2 days. Afterwards, oral, 25 milligrams carvedilol, 2 times daily to meals, over the duration of 2 weeks. Afterwards, oral, between 25 milligrams carvedilol and 50 milligrams carvedilol, 2 times daily to meals. The maximum allowed total dose is 100 milligrams carvedilol daily.

Detailed description

A twice-daily regimen is recommended.

The recommended initial dosage is 12.5 mg twice a day for the first two days. Thereafter, the treatment is continued at the dose 25 mg twice a day. If necessary, the dose may be further increased gradually at intervals of two weeks or more rarely to the recommended maximum dose of 100 mg a day divided into two doses (twice daily).

It should be taken with food to slow the rate of absorption and reduce the incidence of orthostatic effects.
