Indication for Ketotifen

Population group: only infants (40 days - 1 year old) , children (1 year - 12 years old) , adolescents (12 years - 18 years old) , adults (18 years old or older)

1-2 mg twice daily

Dosage regimens

Oral, between 1 milligrams ketotifen and 2 milligrams ketotifen, 2 times daily to meals.

Detailed description

1 mg twice daily with food.

If necessary the dose may be increased to 2 mg twice daily.

0.5-1 mg twice daily

Regimen A: In case that patient age in years is ≤ 3, oral, 5 milligrams ketotifen, 2 times daily.

Regimen B: In case that patient age in years is ≥ 3, oral, 1 milligrams ketotifen, 2 times daily.

Ketotifen is a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. In vivo animal studies and in vitro studies suggest the additional activities of mast cell stabilisation and inhibition of infiltration, activation and degranulation of eosinophils.
