Therapeutic indications

Donanemab is indicated for:

Early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Donanemab is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with a clinical diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia due to Alzheimer's disease (Early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease) who are apolipoprotein E ε4 (ApoE ε4) heterozygotes or non-carriers with confirmed amyloid pathology.

Contraindications

Donanemab is contraindicated in the following cases:

Severe white matter disease

at least one of
Marburg acute multiple sclerosis
Marchiafava-Bignami disease
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy
Subcortical leukoencephalopathy
White matter disease due to anti-phospholipid syndrome
White matter disease due to microglioma
White matter disorder due to nutritional deficiency

Patients with poorly controlled hypertension

Hypertension

Patients with bleeding disorders that are not under adequate control

Blood coagulation disorder

Initiation in patients receiving ongoing anticoagulant therapy

at least one of
Anticoagulant therapy
Antithrombotic agents

Baseline MRI findings

at least one of
Cerebral hemorrhage
Superficial siderosis of central nervous system
Vasogenic cerebral edema
