Therapeutic indications

Dronedarone is indicated for:

Maintenance of sinus rhythm after successful cardioversion of paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF)

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Dronedarone is indicated for the maintenance of sinus rhythm after successful cardioversion in adult clinically stable patients with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). Due to its safety profile, dronedarone should only be prescribed after alternative treatment options have been considered.

Dronedarone is contraindicated in the following cases:

Second degree atrio-ventricular block

Second degree atrioventricular block

Third degree atrio-ventricular block

Complete atrioventricular block

Complete bundle branch block

Sinus node dysfunction

Coronary sinus rhythm disorder

Atrial conduction defects

Atrial septal defect, atrioventricular conduction defect syndrome

Sick sinus syndrome

Permanent AF with an AF duration ≥6 months (or duration unknown)
