Therapeutic indications

Ferric carboxymaltose is indicated for:

Iron deficiency

Population group: only adolescents (12 years - 18 years old) , adults (18 years old or older)

Ferric carboxymaltose is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency when:

  • oral iron preparations are ineffective.
  • oral iron preparations cannot be used.
  • there is a clinical need to deliver iron rapidly.

The diagnosis of iron deficiency must be based on laboratory tests.

Contraindications

Ferric carboxymaltose is contraindicated in the following cases:

Iron overload, disturbances in the utilisation of iron

at least one of
Iron overload
Adverse reaction to iron and/or iron compound

Anaemia not attributed to iron deficiency

Anemia and additionally not Iron deficiency anemia
