Piretanide

Chemical formula: C₁₇H₁₈N₂O₅S  Molecular mass: 362.4 g/mol  PubChem compound: 4849

Pregnancy

Piretanide must not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy. There is insufficient experience to assess the safety of its use in the later phases of pregnancy.

Nursing mothers

Piretanide must not be administered to breast-feeding women because the active substance piretanide is excreted in breast milk. If necessary, weaning should take place.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines

Treatment with piretanide requires regular medical checks. In individual cases reduced mental alertness may impair the ability to drive or operate dangerous machinery. This is most likely at the beginning of treatment, when there is a dose increase or a change of drug and in interaction with alcohol.
