Therapeutic indications

Tiratricol is indicated for:

Peripheral thyrotoxicosis in patients with monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8) deficiency

Population group: only infants (40 days - 1 year old) , children (1 year - 12 years old) , adolescents (12 years - 18 years old) , adults (18 years old or older)

Tiratricol is indicated for the treatment of peripheral thyrotoxicosis in patients with monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8) deficiency (Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome), from birth.

For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments (click for details):

350 ug daily as starting dose gradually increased by 350 micrograms every two weeks until a maintenance dose has been reached

For patients weighing ≥10 kg, a starting dose of 350 ug daily and for patients weighing <10 kg, 175 ug daily, followed by a gradual increase by 350 ug and 175 ug daily respectively every 2 weeks until a maintenance dose is reached

Contraindications
