Contraindications

Trimethoprim is contraindicated in the following cases:

Severe hepatic insufficiency

Hepatic failure stage IV

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Severe renal insufficiency unless plasma levels can be monitored regularly

Renal failure stage 5: Kidney failure (GFR <15 mL/min/1.73 m2 or dialysis)
Renal dialysis

Megaloblastic anaemia and other blood dyscrasias

Blood disease

Fragile X chromosome
