Active ingredients

The drug ESTOMACUROL contains a combination of these active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs):

1 Aluminium hydroxide
UNII 5QB0T2IUN0 - ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE

Aluminium hydroxide is a slow-acting antacid. It is used to provide symptomatic relief in gastric hyperacidity. In addition, the antipeptic and demulcent activity of aluminium hydroxide helps to protect inflamed gastric mucosa against further irritation by gastric secretions.

2 Sodium bicarbonate
UNII 8MDF5V39QO - SODIUM BICARBONATE

Sodium bicarbonate has antacid properties. Sodium bicarbonate causes neutralisation of gastric acid with the production of carbon dioxide.

3 Bismuth subsalicylate
UNII 62TEY51RR1 - BISMUTH SUBSALICYLATE

Bismuth subsalicylate is a derivative of salicylic acid, with anti-inflammatory and bactericidal action. Bismuth subsalicylate has weak antacid properties. Bismuth subsalicylate is used as an antacid and antidiarrheal, and to treat temporary discomfort of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract, such as nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, and diarrhea. Bismuth subsalicylate may exert its antidiarrhoeal action not only by stimulating absorption of fluid and electrolytes across the intestinal wall but also when hydrolysed to salicylic acid, by inhibiting synthesis of a prostaglandin responsible for intestinal inflammation and hypermotility.

4 Calcium carbonate
UNII H0G9379FGK - CALCIUM CARBONATE

Calcium carbonate releases, in a pH-dependent manner, calcium ions in the stomach. Calcium carbonate is widely used as antacid and extensively used as a dietary supplement.

5 Magnesium carbonate
UNII 0E53J927NA - MAGNESIUM CARBONATE

Magnesium carbonate, MgCO3 (archaic name magnesia alba), is an inorganic salt. The most common magnesium carbonate forms are the anhydrous salt called magnesite (MgCO3) and the di, tri, and pentahydrates known as barringtonite (MgCO3·2 H2O), nesquehonite (MgCO3·3 H2O), and lansfordite (MgCO3·5 H2O), respectively. The primary use of magnesium carbonate is the production of magnesium oxide by calcining.
