Andexanet alfa

Therapeutic indications

Andexanet alfa is indicated for:

Reversal of anticoagulation due to life-threatening or uncontrolled bleeding

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

For adult patients treated with a direct factor Xa (FXa) inhibitor (apixaban or rivaroxaban) when reversal of anticoagulation is needed due to life-threatening or uncontrolled bleeding.

For this indication, competent medicine agencies globally authorize below treatments (click for details):

400 mg at a target rate of 30 mg/min and thereafter 4 mg/min for 120 minutes or 800 mg at a target rate of 30 mg/min and thereafter 8 mg/min for 120 minutes

Contraindications

Andexanet alfa is contraindicated in the following cases:

Pregnancy

Lactation

Known allergic reaction to hamster proteins

Allergy to animal protein

Edoxaban or enoxaparin-reversal

at least one of

Administration of antidote
Drug action reversal

and additionally at least one of

Edoxaban
Enoxaparin

Urgent surgery

Surgical procedure
