Bleomycin

Therapeutic Indications

Bleomycin is indicated for:

Hodgkin's lymphoma

Irrespective of gender only Adults (18 years old or older)

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of intermediate and high malignancy in adults.

Treatment 2: Intravenous - 5,000-15,000 IU/m² once or twice a week

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck, cervix, external genitalia

Treatment 1: Intramuscular - 10,000-15,000 IU/m² once or twice a week every 3-4 weeks

Malignant pleural effusion

Testicular carcinoma (seminoma and non-seminoma)

Treatment 1: Intramuscular - 10,000-15,000 IU/m² once or twice a week every 3-4 weeks

Treatment 2: Intravenous - 10,000-15,000 IU/m² once or twice a week every 3-4 weeks

Treatment 3: Intravenous - 10,000-15,000 IU/m² once a day for 5-6 consecutive days every 3-4 weeks

Contraindications

Active ingredient Bleomycin is contraindicated in the following cases:

Lactation

No gender/age discrimination

It is unknown if bleomycin or the metabolites are excreted in the mother’s milk. Due to possible very harmful effects on the infant, breast-feeding during treatment with bleomycin is contraindicated.

Pulmonary infection, severely impaired lung function

Ataxia-telangiectasia

No gender/age discrimination
