Pregnancy

There are no or limited amount of data from the use of quinidine in pregnant women. As this medicinal product may cause foetal harm, it is not recommended during pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential not using contraception.

Nursing mothers

Quinidine is excreted in human milk. A risk to the newborns/infants cannot be excluded. A decision must be made whether to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/abstain from quinidine therapy taking into account the benefit of breast-feeding for the child and the benefit of therapy for the woman.

Carcinogenesis, mutagenesis and fertility

Fertility

In pre-clinical studies no effect on fertility was observed in male and female rats.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines

Quinidine has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines. Patients should be warned about the potential for CNS-related effects like somnolence, dizziness and syncope or impaired vision, and advised not to drive or operate machinery if these symptoms occur.
