Therapeutic indications

Clodronic acid is indicated for:

Osteolytic lesions, hypercalcaemia, bone pain associated with skeletal metastases

Population group: only adults (18 years old or older)

Clodronic acid is indicated in the management of osteolytic lesions, hypercalcaemia and bone pain associated with skeletal metastases in patients with carcinoma of the breast or multiple myeloma.

Clodronic acid is also indicated for the maintenance of clinically acceptable serum calcium levels in patients with hypercalcaemia of malignancy initially treated with an intravenous bisphosphonate.

Contraindications

Clodronic acid is contraindicated in the following cases:

Severe renal failure (creatinine clearance is below 10ml/min)

Renal failure stage 5: Kidney failure (GFR <15 mL/min/1.73 m2 or dialysis)
